I use several analytical techniques in my work, primarily using R. As projects are completed, I will link to relevant code and data below.
COVID-19 impacts on birds
Much of the analysis for this work relied heavily on the auk package for R. A great resource for working with raw eBird data is this document on best practices, written by others at the Cornell Lab who designed that package and actively develop eBird. For more infomration on exactly how we dealt with eBird data during the pandemic (which required some careful considerations), there are many resources in the methods and supplementary material for our Science Advances paper, which is open access.
Antarctic Shag Breeding Locations
For a 2018 analysis of Antarctic Shags (see the paper here), I reviewed available literature and produced a database of breeding locations. The following Github repository contains the database. I will update this database in the future to reflect new information as it becomes available.
Antarctic Breeding Bird Occupancy
Using a long-term dataset from visits to breeding colonies around the Antarctic Peninsula, coauthors and I used Bayesian multi-state occupancy modeling to create comprehensive maps of breeding probability throughout the region (see the paper here). The code for that analysis is available at this Github repository.
